OUR MISSION

The mission of Little Springs Botanical Gardens is to maintain the preservation of historical architecture, the bio diversity of plant/wildlife, and ecological and environmental conservation through education so that the generations today and of the future can enjoy what John Muir described as “ ...the wonderment of nature”.

Our
Story

Welcome to Little Springs Botanical Gardens located just outside of the charming town of Deland, Florida. Spanning 10 acres of rolling natural beauty, our gardens are perched on an ancient sand dune referred to as "The Deland Ridge". We invite you to explore the diverse flora and tranquil landscapes that make our gardens a unruffled escape in northern central Florida.

Jacquie and Wayne Petrovich created a serene retreat, a sanctuary born from the challenges of the Covid pandemic and a journey of healing. In 2023, Jacquie was diagnosed with lung cancer. After Jacquie's diagnosis and recovery, we discovered the profound impact nature has on our well-being. Inspired by this we created beautiful gardens to share the calming and restorative powers of the natural world. Join us in embracing the peace and tranquility that nature offers, and let it enhance your life as it has ours.

A master gardener through the University of Florida Agriculture program, Jacquie began using the existing aesthetic features of the property and then added her concept of a vibrant landscape filled with garden art along with a diverse selection of native, tropical, and sub-tropical plants from around the world.

Today, both Jacquie (aka Krickett) and Wayne (aka Kritter) are the current stewards of the property, maintaining and adding to the gardens that are always in transition.

About

EXPLORE OUR BOTANICAL GARDEN

Little Springs Botanical Gardens is a place for outdoor discovery, encompassing 10 acres of botanical and National Wildlife Sanctuary gardens located in Western Volusia County, Florida. Our gardens offer a peaceful and immersive retreat for nature enthusiasts, where passion meets beauty. Our commitment is to provide examples of cultivating a wide variety of native and exotic plants that require minimum care, thus creating a beautiful haven for  visitors, flora, and fauna.

As with all outdoor experiences, we recommend that garden visitors come prepared to enjoy their visit by wearing comfortable and protective clothing, shoes, sunscreen, and bug spray.

All visitors should follow signage to stay on designated paths, walkways, and trails to avoid poison ivy and ticks. With no shortage of pollen and pollinator friends, we recommend those with allergies take their medication prior to arrival and to carry their epinephrine pen at all times in the event of an emergency.

Come prepared to savor nature while staying safe!
